The Making of Your Own Home Wind Generator
Gathering the tools
Make sure you collect all the required tools and components to build your wind generator. Make sure you have wire strippers and soldering irons. Also, collect recyclable materials like a 2-liter plastic soda bottle and their caps. You should also have light and thin strips of metal along with epoxy and glue.
Furthermore, get traditional tools like a saw, wrenches, and an electric drill to make sure you have everything around when you need them. Finally, make a construction plan before you start building your wind generator.
Constructing the catchment area
A wind catchment area is a component that collects the wind. To build this part, you will need the top parts of the plastic bottles. You saw the tops off below the neck from the 2-liter soda bottles. Then, use epoxy to join the bottle tops together. Fix them until you have four coupling components.
Building the fan
While this part is not exactly a fan, it will work similarly. To make this, carve an “X” of at least more than a foot long and an inch wide. Again, use the epoxy to fix the new fan with your couplets. Then, let the epoxy harden for a while.
Connecting the wind catchment and the fan
If you have designed and built your couplets accurately, this should not be a complicated step. Just screw the bottle tops into the couplets.
Constructing the generator
You now need to add the motor. This step is where you finally need the diodes and battery. Use epoxy again to fix the generator and the fan together. If there are any edges, fix them with glue.
Building the stand
Now, all you need to do is make a stand for your wind generator.
For this, you can build a stand based on what kind of motor you have used for your generator. However, a small rectangular piece of wood can be the ultimate stand for any home wind generator.
Completing the construction
Once you finish building the stand, carefully attach the generator and the fan to the stand. Make sure you keep the apparatus safe and stable as it should be able to withstand strong winds. To keep the generator fast, you can also use weighting mechanisms.
