Installation and Setup

The steps of installation are broken down as follows:
Step 1: Turn off the water supply.
Step 2: Prevent air breaks and backflow by placing it close to the drain.
Step 3: Check if the softener tank is in level and stands securely.
Step 4: The distributor tube flush should be cut with the top of the tank.
Step 5: Use silicon for lubricating the distributor and tank O-ring seals.
Step 6: Place the control valve on the tank.
Step 7: Connect the Drain Line Flow Control fitting (DLFC) to the drain using nothing but Teflon tape as a sealant.
Step 8: Check if the brine tank is in level and stands securely.
Step 9: Add 1-inch water above the grid plate or fill it to the top of the aircheck if no grid plate is used.
Step 10: Set the unit in bypass mode.
Step 11: Turn the main water supply to check for any leaks
Step 12: Let the system flush all debris by opening a cold water outlet nearby.
Step 13: Close the outlet.
Step 14: Switch from bypass mode to service mode and let the water flow into the resin tank.
Step 15: When full, reopen the cold water outlet to purge all air from the system.
Step 16: Supply power to the unit.
Step 17: Once the unit connects to the power source, set the softener into bypass mode.
Step 18: Fill the brine tank with salt as required (by the manufacturer).
Step 19: Open the bypass valve and let all the remaining air run down the drain line.
Step 20: Allow the system to run through a complete backwash cycle (optional) and check for leaks.

Here’s how you can calculate how many grains you need in a water softener.
First, multiply the number of members in your family with the average gallons of water used per day (around 70 gallons).
Now, multiply the answer by your water hardness in grains per gallon (to convert mg/l or ppm to grains, divide by 17.1)
